ALEX PRAGER’S COMPULSION AT FOAM.
The people at FOAM continue to introduce amazing work to the public - such as Alex Prager’s Compulsion.
Compulsion is made up of iconic images that blend together surrealism and hyperrealism in a heady mix. Extreme close-ups of eyes, gatherings of people, a sense of doom, almost Dalí-esque images - Prager’s aesthetic seems to emerge from a compenetration between Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo and a Raymond Chandler novel, with a dash of acid. La Petite Mort is the corollary film that accompanies the exhibition; starring Judith Godrèche, it’s an ulterior exploration of “the relationship between love and death and those few moments right before, during, and after death”.
Compulsion will be open until October 14th.
